Ted Thompson loosening the purse strings

I think George Washington went blind from the light as Ted Thompson had a flurry of activity in free agency.  I mean, he signed someone during the first 2 weeks of free agency!  He hasn’t done that since he picked up Marquand Manuel.  Since that free agent safety turned out so well, he thought he’d try it again with Anthony Smith.

I’m not sure there’s much left to be had in free agency, but the Sporting News has Atari Bigby rated higher than this guy.  So, I guess they added a backup safety.  WOOO!  ALRIGHT!  How do you get excited about that?  Of the folks that are left how about Olshansky or Bodden or taking a risk on a guy like Kalif Barnes.  Or how about at least re-signing Bigby and Tauscher?  Give me something to be excited about and I’ll tell you right now that 35 year old Kevin Carter is not it.
