I’m sitting here watching the first game of the Dale Sveum era wondering what’s changed?  Perhaps more correctly, what can change?  These are still the same players.  Well, not completely.  Sveum did something Yost should have done a long time ago…benched Weeks and Hall.  But, really this is still a long ball team with their best long ball hitters slumping.  Although, Fielder has done his part tonight keeping the Crew in it.  When the hitting slumps, the team loses.  Braun still doesn’t look 100% because he’s not turning on the ball like he was early in the year before the rib cage injury.  The bullpen is still suspect.  As is evidenced by the current 8th inning performance Villanueva is putting in.

I applaud removing Ned.  I think they waited too long.  But, to do it with just 12 games left makes little sense.  I now they want to win this season before they lose Sheets and Sabathia, but then they should have let Ned go a while ago.  There really is nothing left for them do to.  Other than the players shake out of it and start playing better.
