Okay, the report is out there and now I’m officially waiting.  I’m waiting for all of the people to lash out at Lance for un-retiring.  I’m sure there will be those who will say he retired to avoid drug testing and is back now that everything is out of his system.  But, that’s not the criticism I want to see.  I want to see the venom that people threw at Favre when he decided to un-retire.  I want to see all of the complaints that he just can’t seem to let go.  Come on.  Here’s a guy who will go down as one of the greatest of all time in his sport.  He walked away while he could still do it.  And, he’s decided retirement doesn’t suit him well.  See the parallels?  So, I’m now waiting.

Unfortunately, I better not hold my breath while I’m waiting.  I might pass out.  I’m sure someone will come up with a way to justify this double standard.  That’s what we do.  Create double standards and then rationalize when they don’t apply.  I’ll save you some time thinking about it…they don’t apply when it suits your purpose.

Personally, I hope he does unretire.  And I hope he wins the tour.  If anything to prove to folks he can do it under drug testing and he’s that good.  I just wish people would realize when they’re talking (or in this case, not talking) out of both sides of their mouths.
