I went 60% with my pre-season predictions last year and with the season starting this weekend, its that time again. So, here they are:
- Aaron Rodgers will complete 60% or more of his passes for over 3,000 yards, over 20 TD’s and close to 20 picks. Not a bad first year out of the shadow, eh? Well, he’s got plenty of talent around him to catch the ball and a defensive that shouldn’t let any games get out of hand where he has to go outside of the offense to generate points. Rodgers is a good QB with enough talent to start in the NFL. It’s just not as much talent as the guy he replaced.
- Matt Flynn will get more snaps under center than Rodgers had the previous 3 years. He’s not as durable as the guy he replaced either, but then again, neither is my car.
- Ryan Grant will be less impressive than he was last year. Folks, he’s not going to rush for 1,700 yards. Those are special seasons. Ryan Grant is good. He’s better than any other option the Packers have. I’m just not convinvced he’s special.
- Nick Barnett will finally make it to the Pro Bowl. The guy had a Pro Bowl year last year but because his name wasn’t Urlacher, no one noticed. So, he didn’t win the popularity contest that is the Pro Bowl. But, when you string enough seasons like that together, people start to notice…don’t they? Charles Woodson will make it to the PrRo Bowl as well now that he doesn’t have to worry about kick returns at all and can concentrate on picks.
- The Packers will make the playoffs with a 10-6 record.
There you have. My pre-season Packer predictions. I’ll revisit them again mid-season like last year and see how well I’m doing. Now some bonus picks for you:
- Brett Favre will throw for over 3,000 yards, 25 TD’s and 15 picks and the Jets will make the playoffs as the second AFC wild card team. And, they will lose to the Colts in the first round of the playoffs.
- The NFC playoff teams will be: Cowboys, Saints, Packers, Seahawks, Buccanears, and Vikings.
- The AFC playoff teams will be: Chargers, Patriots, Colts, Steelers, Browns, and Jets.
We’ll see you again at week 8.
