3.5 games back, and…now what?

Hmm…the Brewers starting pitching is back.  They vanished against the Astros and Cubs, but they feasted on the Reds and the Nats.  So, are they really good and had some bad games at the worst possible time, or are they only good enough to beat some bad teams?

I guess we’ll find out.  They’re embarking on a road trip against San Diego (another bad team) and the Dodgers (an underachieving team with a big payroll).  They’re 11-2 on the road since the All Star break.  But, these are 2 places the Brewers are just horrible in.  If they can win these series, does it prove much?  I think so.  The Brewers have never been a good road club.  Plus, at the same time the Cubs are in Atlanta and Florida.  So, there is a chance to close the gap some more.

If we get back from the road trip closer than 3.5, then maybe they are a good team that won’t wilt under the pressure.  If we’re more than 3.5 back, maybe the wild card is the best we can hope for.
