People have said this saga makes for great drama, but I might have to lean more on the side of a farce. It has much more of sit-com feel. Has anybody seen the S.S. Minnow? 5 hour meetings with that began with McCarthy and Favre ”Airing their Grievances“? What’s next? “Feats of Strength“? That reminds me, where did I put that Festivus pole?
A 5 hour meeting? Are you kidding me? But, the sad part is that it does feel like my beloved Packers are lost at sea.
After all that, it seems apparent that I was right a couple of days ago. “Favre is a Packer…for now.” My guess is the Packers will trade him — and I still think he’ll end up in Tampa. That will make this interesting. Why? Because Tampa has a new young offensive line and Green Bay will have a new young –albeit fragile — QB. Yes, I know the local radio station has banned being able to call Aaron Rodgers injury prone, but they don’t control my blog and besides, they’re wrong.
Look the guy played 1 quarter against New England. Broken foot. Played 3 quarters against the Cowboys, and promptly pulled his hamstring in the next practice. Shall I go back to his injuries as a college player? He’s only been in the league 3 years and spent most of it holding a clipboard, yet he’s had a bunch of injuries and been unavailable for games. Apparently, that doesn’t constitute injury prone. Perhaps the local radio guys have a different English dictionary than mine, but I digress.
If the Bucs — or wherever else Favre ends up — have a better record than the Packers, Thompson and McCarthy will be villified by the fans. Or, what if that team beats the Packers in the playoffs? You know what? That’s okay. Thompson has wanted Favre gone to put his guy in there, but lacks the big ones to stand up to Favre. Can you imagine what Favre was thinking when they offered him a bribe? That’s why Brett walks all over him. He has absolutely no respect for the guy.
