I’m hoping this is a typo from this story, because it sounds awfully painful.  The last sentence of the article reads:

The Diamondbacks suffered a couple of cringe-worthy injuries before Owings was scratched. Outfielder Eric Byrnes was placed on the disabled list Tuesday with a hamstring strain, and just before the start of the game, catcher Chris Snyder went on the DL with a left testicular fracture.

I think “cringe-worthy” is quite an understatement when describing that particular injury.
