Ryan Braun…one year later

It was about a year ago that I started this blog.  I named it the Hot Corner in honor of the Brewers calling up then 3rd basmen Ryan Braun from the minors.  In my mind he has exceeded expectations.  I guess that’s why they forked over the record contract last week.  But, what he said yesterday was even bigger.  He came out and said something that his manager should be saying.  Being competitive is no longer good enough.

We’re 1/4 of the way through the season and this team is underacheiving, and all of the other people on this team seem to be saying losing is part of the season.  Only Braun has stood up and said, I don’t want to lose.  I don’t want to just compete.  I’m here to win.  He showed that when he inked his contract (he could’ve gotten a lot more in free agency).  He showed that when he signed his deal and has only produced better numbers since then (8 games, 8 HR’s).

Here’s to hoping someone else is listening.
