You know how every year you think this birthday will be better. It won’t just be another year older and the depressing thoughts most people conjure up when they talk about their birthdays. This year it will be a nice relaxing day with my family, right?
Wrong! Today I’m greeted by 5 different meetings (2 of them at the same time) with a nice 30 minute break between each of them and one of them is scheduled for after I normally go home for the day. So, I won’t get any work done other than sitting in meetings. Plus, Tuesdays are the days my wife has her classes at the tech college. So, I will race home to throw some food at the kids before she has to leave.
But, you know what? Despite all that — as well as being another year closer to 40 — it really won’t be that bad. Why? Because Tuesdays are the days that my kids and I just sit down and play. We don’t do any work. We just read stories and play games. I get to be a kid again. And that really will be a great way to spend a birthday.
