Obama vs. Hillary

I was talking to a neighbor yesterday who said if Obama wins the nomination instead of Hillary they just aren’t going to vote because they don’t want to be responsible for either mistake that might get to the White House.  They are obviously a die hard Democrat.  So, I asked why Obama would be such a bad option to keep them away from the polls in November.

“He has no voting record.  I don’t know where he stands on any issues.  He’s never done anything for health care, and he hasn’t been around Washington enough to know who the power players are.” was the reply.

Playing devil’s advocate I said, “Hillary has changed where she stands, contradicted her voting record, her health care plan fell apart, and is it such a bad thing to not have a Washington insider in the White House?”  An angry stare was the reply.

I admit, I don’t know a lot about Obama except that he is a charasmatic speaker.  On the flip side, Hillary seems more manufactured than genuine.  Kinda like that TX model in T3:Rise of the Machines.  Whether she is genuine or not, that’s the way she comes across to me.  On  the Republican side, that Huckabee guy scares the crap out of me.  We’ve already had 8 years of a right wing nut job in the White House and that’s worked out so well.  I can’t imagine 4 more with a nut job who’s even farther to the right.  But, I digress.

To me, whichever Democrat gets offered up in the end, needs to be different.  We’ve put Democrats in charge of Congress and not much has changed.  Maintaining the status quo isn’t going to help much.  That’s why at this point the campagin I’m leaning more towards Obama.

Of course, Wisconsin’s primary is after Feb. 5th, so the race will probably be over by the time I get to voice my opinion at the polls anyway.  Thus, I’m throwing this out to the Intergoogle in hopes that someone in California and New York might hear it.
