Going to the Game – Update

It cost us $189 per ticket to sit in the corner of the south end zone over the Packer tunnel.  Was it worth it?  Yes.  Will I make a habit out of it?  No.
It is far different to be at a game than to watch it on the TV.  At Lambeau Field there really are no bad seats.  I could see the action better from seat 31 row 49 section 131 than I can on my TV in my family room.  Seeing the entire field instead of just what the camera lense has zoomed in on.  The view from our seats
Plus, there is an energy in the crowd that doesn’t come through on the TV.  It may have been a sloppy game, but it was more exciting to sit there in the rain than any other Packer game I’ve ever seen with the possible exception of Super Bowl 31 but its close.  It reminded me of when I was a student at Madison during Alvarez’s first few seasons.
Yet, for as exciting as the game was there were downsides.  Like the 3 hour drive home.  That drive is normally 90 minutes.  The 2 car accidents we had to work our way around to get to the game.  Then there was the parking pass I paid for but couldn’t use because the streets to that lot were closed.  Then there was the 40 minute line to get into the stadium.  We got into the line in front of the gate at 11:25.  We got to our seats at 12:05.  Lastly there were the 2 open spaces on the bleacher seats where our 4 tickets were supposed to be.
It was a trip of ups and downs.  It was worth the money.  I got to see #4 play in person.  I got to watch the defense rise to the occassion and smack some people around.  I got to see the Lambeau Field improvements and soak in the atmosphere.  But, I don’t plan on making it an annual trip unless I can get tickets at a much lower price.  I’ll probably take the kids when they get old enough to appreciate it and a few other big occassions.
Here’s a few more photos of us at the game and the view from our seats.  I was the guy behind the camera and it was just my camera phone, but I think you get the idea.
