Or at least you’d think so by how excited people are with the 2-0 Packers after beating the crap out of the Seahawks. Did I mention it’s still pre-season?
The Packers offense showed signs of life after being left for dead in the first pre-season game by Favre himself. The special teams almost appeared special. The defense was outstanding. Rodgers once again looked like he might be an NFL QB. Brandon Jackson and James Jones look like good draft picks. Green Bay won the turn over battle. But, remember, Shaun Alexander carried the ball just 3 times. Matt Hasselback didn’t dress. Neither did Walter Jones or Sean Locklear. Makes it a heck of a lot easier for the defense doesn’t it? And that turnover battle we won — it was 5 TO’s to 6 in our favor.
But, you play against the guy you’re lined up against and twice now the Packers came out on top. That is a reason to be happy. But, if you don’t mind, I’m going to wait a little longer before I buy those Super Bowl tickets. Instead I’ll just savor these words from Mike Holmgren:
“It shouldn’t matter,” Holmgren said. “Those are three very good players, but it shouldn’t make that kind of a difference. We got injured last year and guys had to come in and play. I just didn’t think we played very well. We didn’t execute at all.”
At least the Seahawks didn’t come away from the game with any major injuries.
“Why would we?” Holmgren said. “We didn’t hit anybody.”
I still kinda miss his press conferences.
