Let me start by saying I’m a huge Brett Favre fan.  Growing up in the 70’s & 80’s was a difficult time to become a Packers fan.  Those were some awful teams.  Brett Favre restored some luster to 1265 Lombardi Avenue and as a fan I will be forever grateful.  So, please don’t take this post as flippant in any way.

But, I’m beginning to wonder if he should hang it up.  Why?  Sure, he’s not the best QB in the game anymore, but that’s not it.  He does say a lot of stupid things when he’s talks.  It’s feels like stream-of-consciousness talking sometimes.  But, that’s not it either.  I think it’s bigger than that.

No, the great cosmos is trying to tell him something.  Bad things seem to keep happening to people around him since he began his annual should I retire or return thing.  This time Deanna’s stepfather passed away over the weekend.  He was reportedly close to his step-father-in-law.  Previous years have included hurricanes, his wife’s breat cancer, and the deaths of his brother-in-law and father. 

How much can this poor guy take?  No wonder he can keep playing.  300 pound defense ends can’t scare him.  He’s faced far worse.  Interception?  Big deal!  That’s nothing to get worried about.  But, for the safety of those around him, he might want to make this the last hurrah.  Which reminds me, anyone got some tickets?
