Oo, dat’s gotta hoyt! So, one of Michael Vick’s codefendant’s wants a way out. That leaves the question of whether or not he’s taking the fall for Vick or whether he’s going to rat him out. Given the prosecution accepted the deal, I’m going for the latter. Things keep on looking worse and worse for Vick. At least the NAACP has come to his defense stating that the feds are just being mean to good ol’ Mike.
You know why, right? You guessed it, they’re all racist and they’ve singled out Mike Vick. Must be Joey Harrington fans I guess. Would they call out the feds if it was Jake Delhomme or Peyton Manning facing the same charges? (Sorry guys, you were the only southern white QB’s that quickly came to mind other than Favre). To be fair, if it weren’t Vick and just some schmoe, this probably would have been pleaded out to some sort of misdemeanor if Poindexter took it to court at all. I say Poindexter, because I don’t think the feds would have wrested this case from his inept bumbling to prosecute Billy Joe Bob. So, Vick’s popularity probably hurt him there. But, I guarantee you, that they would have gone after a famous white QB just as voraciously. The government could use some good press these days and putting away someone convicted of vicious acts towards Fido certainly passes the test. Make it a famous person and it’s the cherry on top.
I don’t deny Vick has a steep hill to climb and that some of it may not be of his own doing. However, if he did what that indictment alleges, I won’t shed any tears for him. He’s a big boy capable of making his own decisions. It looks like he made a bad one and will have to live with the consequences of it.
